BettingJobs is thrilled to collaborate with our client, a prominent online bookmaker known for transforming the sports betting and gaming industry, in their search for a Legal Counsel to join their team in Malta.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head of Legal in providing legal advice on sports betting operations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and applicable laws.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of compliance measures related to Anti-Money Laundering, Responsible Gambling, GDPR, marketing, and other regulatory frameworks.
- Facilitate communication with regulatory authorities on licensing, audits, and compliance matters, as directed by the Head of Legal.
- Support the Head of Legal in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, including supplier agreements, affiliate contracts, sponsorship deals, and software licensing agreements.
- Assist in managing contract changes and ensuring all documentation aligns with company policies and legal standards.
- Collaborate with the Head of Legal to identify potential legal risks and assist in developing strategies to mitigate them.
- Provide support in handling disputes, litigation, and regulatory investigations in coordination with external advisors when required.
- Work alongside the Head of Legal and other stakeholders to develop and maintain internal policies related to legal compliance, responsible gambling practices, data protection, and operational risk management.
- Support adherence to corporate governance standards by assisting the Head of Legal in providing guidance to senior management.
- Provide administrative support for managing intellectual property portfolios, including trademarks and copyrights.
Requirements:
- A law degree from a recognized university within the EU or EEA.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a legal role, preferably within the iGaming or online sports betting industry.
- Experience liaising with regulators, external counsel and financial institutions.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Fluency in English (legal English proficiency is essential); additional languages are an asset.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in using legal document management tools like DocuSign or Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with international gaming laws across multiple jurisdictions.
