BettingJobs is working with an independent games studio that was recently acquired by a larger iGaming group. With offices in Barcelona and Armenia, the company are expanding rapidly having gained access to a number of new licenses and jurisdictions through their acquisition.

Responsibilities:

• Be the domain expert: bring deep knowledge of casino provider platforms, including game integration, bonus systems, jackpot mechanics, regulatory requirements, and player session flows, and mentor the existing backend team on these topics.
• Lead by doing: take an active part in design, development, architecture, and code review. You will be the most senior technical leader — not just a manager.
• Set direction: establish strong system architecture, scalable infrastructure, and development standards aligned with long-term product and compliance goals.

Requirements

• iGaming Industry Expertise (Must-Have)
• Several years of experience working with or for a casino platform provider or similar iGaming backend.
• Clear understanding of:
  • Game aggregation and integrations
  • Free spins, bonus systems, and jackpots
  • Jurisdictional compliance (UK, MGA, Spain, Germany, Brazil, etc.)
  • Player wallet/session handling and reconciliation
• Ability to translate domain knowledge into clean system architecture and onboard others into this knowledge.
• Expertise in backend development, preferably with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Strong experience with cloud infrastructure (preferably GCP, AWS also fine).
• Database fluency: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB — must understand performance, structure, and query optimization.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools: Terraform/Pulumi, Jenkins, ArgoCD, GitHub/Bitbucket.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes and microservice orchestration.
• Bonus: experience optimizing systems under high-load conditions (millions of rounds/day).
• AI & Automation
• Pragmatic approach to AI: uses AI tools for developer productivity, problem-solving, or ops automation, not full code generation.
• Able to work with or lead AI/data teams when needed.
• Hands-on leadership style is essential — we are a small, highly involved team.
• Ability to mentor and uplevel backend developers, especially in understanding how casino systems work.
• Clear communicator in English, capable of articulating both business logic and technical concepts.
• Experienced in managing or coordinating with cross-functional teams (Dev, QA, Compliance, Ops).
• Prior experience scaling platforms and teams is a strong plus.
