BettingJobs are working with a very well-established sports betting/iGaming company who are looking for a Solution Architect with domain expertise or strong interest in sports betting to support the design and implementation of low-latency, scalable systems across their product portfolio. You will work alongside their Lead Solution Architect , engineering teams, and product stakeholders to ensure that solutions meet both business goals and demanding technical requirements of the sports betting ecosystem.
Your Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Lead Solution Architect to translate business goals into domain-aligned technical designs and solution blueprints.
- Architect and document systems handling real-time betting events, odds updates, and customer interactions at high throughput and low latency.
- Apply Domain-Driven Design (DDD)to organize systems around clearly defined bounded contexts such as betting markets, punter management, odds feeds, or settlements.
- Design and implement Event-Driven Architectures (EDA)that respond to real-time sports data streams, user activity, and transaction workflows.
- Work closely with engineering teams to ensure efficient implementation of designed solutions.
- Review and enhance system scalability, fault tolerance, and performance — especially under high-load scenarios like live betting or major sporting events.
- Support DevOps in defining CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and alerting strategies for production environments.
- Collaborate with product and UX teams to align system behaviour with user journeys, especially in high-speed environments like in-play betting.
- Contribute to internal documentation and system modelling using C4, UML, or other industry tools.
Knowledge and skills you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in backend engineering or solution architecture roles.
- Strong understanding of the sports betting ecosystem or high-frequency transactional systems.
- Hands-on experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD)to model business domains like betting slips, events, odds feeds, or player account management.
- Experience designing Event-Driven Architectures (EDA)with message brokers (Pulsar, Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
- Expertise in designing resilient, real-time, API-first systems (REST, WebSockets, GraphQL).
- Proficiency in one or more relevant technologies:.NET, Java, Node.js, or Python.
- Cloud-native mindset with experience in AWS, GCP, or Azure deployments.
- Familiarity with caching, rate-limiting, and load balancing strategies to support real-time updates at scale.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases; ability to model and optimize data structures for read/write-heavy workloads.
- Working knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD, and monitoring/alerting tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bonus points for the following:
- Experience integrating with third-party odds providers or data feeds (e.g., Sportradar, Betgenius).
- Knowledge of latency-sensitive event processing and stream analytics.
- Previous work in online gaming or fintech industries.
- Experience with feature flags, A/B testing, or risk-based decision engines.
- Public speaking, technical writing, or community involvement in architecture or betting technology spaces.
