BettingJobs is working with an innovative game studio developing industry leading slots who are searching for a Head of Game Development to join their team. This role can be based in Malta or remotely within the EU.
As the Head of Game Development, you will guide the client-side development team, shaping technical strategy and ensuring high-quality game releases. Your role involves managing the full development lifecycle, maintaining clean and scalable code, and overseeing the budget. You’ll also mentor and grow the team, fostering innovation and collaboration to deliver visually compelling and technically sound games
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor the game development team, ensuring successful project execution and alignment with broader technical strategies.
- Oversee the game development lifecycle, maintaining high standards for quality, clean code, and sustainability, while staying within budget limits.
- Develop and implement front-end game development strategies, integrating new technologies and best practices for improved performance.
- Ensure seamless communication and collaboration across all departments, including close coordination with Game Producers and the product team.
- Participate in the full game production process, from concept to release, ensuring high-quality, visually compelling games.
- Manage technical debt, continuously improving frameworks to prevent it.
- Recruit, train, and develop the game development team, fostering professional growth and skill enhancement.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a senior game developer with a track record in successful slot game launches.
- Extensive leadership and technical team management experience.
- Strong grasp of slot game mechanics, player psychology, and the online gaming market.
- Excellent leadership, technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in communication and collaboration across departments.
- Expertise in game development tools and technologies, including Pixi.js, Typescript, React, HTML5, WebGL, and Phaser.
- Skilled at balancing creativity with commercial objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
