2017 Worlds Strongest Man Eddie Hall enjoyed some less strenuous time with his friends from BettingJobs at the ICE gaming conference in London last week.

Afterwards, Eddie spoke to BettingJobs in an open and honest interview about his early life, his highs and lows, future plans including a collaboration with Arnold Schwarzenegger, also some advice to youngsters who may be experiencing challenges in their lives.

The Beginning

As a young child, Eddie describes being mesmerized by seeing the worlds strongest man on TV and it sticks in his mind as a moment that changed it all.

Despite experiencing success as national swimming champion at the young age of twelve, Eddie experienced mental challenges that lead to being expelled from school at fourteen.

Eddie states: “Lifting weights became a release, an addiction. It made me feel good about myself.”

Eddie quickly got to work, weightlifting became a 24/7 obsession. By the end of his teenage years Eddie was well on his way to achieving his lifelong goal of becoming the world’s strongest man. Ten years later that dream became a reality.

Challenges and Advice

However, an obsession that drove him to success, nearly cost him his marriage and kids. Eddie describes being “almost mentally ill” when he reached the peak of his powers.

After he had achieved his goal of becoming the world’s strongest man, Eddie experienced a “real low” he describes, this taught Eddie a lifelong lesson: always set new goals.

“It doesn’t matter if the goal is to buy a new car, a bike or a house, keep giving yourself something to aim at and always keep a positive mindset.”

Eddie continued to push forward and became, to this day, the one and only man to successfully complete a 500kg dead-lift. Closely behind becoming the worlds strongest man, this is Eddies proudest achievement.

Future Plans

An exciting future lies ahead for Eddie, he is travelling to the states to complete a series of tv shows and a follow up to his first movie “Born Strong,” for the popular American History and Dave channels.

Eddie will be collaborating with Arnold Schwarzenegger in these future productions which we hope to see on the big screens in 2019.
