    Payments Manager

    BettingJobs is partnering with a fast-growing start-up based in St. Julian’s, Malta, as they search to find a Payments Manager to join their team on a hybrid basis.

    The successful candidate will ensure smooth, secure, effective payment transactions across multiple geographies, payment methods, and currencies. This role sits at the intersection of finance, operations, and technology—requiring technical know-how, analytical skills, and operational leadership.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage day-to-day payment processing (incoming and outgoing), including e-wallets, bank transfers, and alternative payment methods.
    • Work closely with developers, understand API documentation, and guide successful payment gateway and PSP integrations.
    • Investigate escalations to determine root cause, identify whether issues are PSP-related, and coordinate necessary actions.
    • Oversee daily and monthly reconciliation between payment gateways, acquirers, and internal systems, ensuring accuracy and timely settlement.
    • Develop payment KPIs, dashboards, and reports to provide actionable insights on costs, conversion rates, and customer payment behaviour.
    • Collaborate with Customer Service to resolve payment-related issues quickly and effectively, ensuring a frictionless checkout and refund process.
    • Continuously streamline payment workflows, reduce transaction failures, and improve authorization rates.
    • Act as the operational lead for high-level discussions with PSPs or third parties when required.

    Requirements:

    • 3+ years in payment operations or a similar role in a B2C or high-volume transaction environment, with proven experience working alongside developers.
    • Ability to read and understand API documentation, troubleshoot integration issues, and support technical teams in payment-related projects.
    • Strong ability to interpret payment data, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
    • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to manage escalations, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
