BettingJobs are working with a New York based start-up iGaming operator who are looking for a Lead Backend Engineer to join their team on a remote basis.

Responsibilities:

• Designing and building backend APIs to power the platform’s core features.
• Integrating with third-party payment providers to support secure and seamless transactions.
• Developing the full game flow—from user interaction through backend processing and result handling.
• Integrating third-party casino games and connecting their APIs with our platform and database.
• Managing data using Supabase/Postgres, including real-time capabilities where needed.
• Collaborating closely with the frontend team (Next.js) to ensure seamless end-to-end functionality.
• Writing clean, testable, and maintainable code with a focus on performance and reliability.

Requirements:

• 4–5+ years of experience working on the backend of an online casino platform
• Skilled in designing and developing scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems in fast-paced environments
• Hands-on experience with iGaming platform components, including:
  • Player account management
  • Wallet systems
  • Bonus engines
  • Integrations with third-party game providers and payment gateways
• Strong expertise in Node.js and/or Java
• Deep familiarity with relational databases, especially Postgres
• Experienced in making backend architecture decisions and applying API design best practices
• Comfortable navigating complex data flows
• Collaborative and proactive team player with cross-functional team experience

Nice to have:

• Experience working on real-money gaming platforms (casino, sportsbook, etc.)
• Strong understanding of transactional integrity, user session management, and security best practices in fintech/gaming
• Skilled in integrating third-party games, payments, and analytics platforms via REST APIs or WebSockets
• Pragmatic problem-solver with a focus on clean code, documentation, and performance
