Description:

We are seeking a bright and enthusiastic individual to work within the rapidly expanding global Development Department, the Front End Development Manager role is extremely varied, with a need to work closely with many areas of the business (product development, IT Infrastructure, technical, development teams, programme managers and other practice heads).

There are a high number of concurrent projects to deliver, including ongoing enhancements to the existing offerings and major projects / upgrades to offerings and technology stacks.

The successful candidate will be required to interact daily with all areas and levels of the business. They must be able to demonstrate an ability to manage both external demands and internal constraints, balancing shifting day to-day priorities with the longer term project work in this fast moving industry.

Candidates should be self-starters, with a high attention to detail and are comfortable with the technical nature the position entails. Much of the role is working closely with developers, IT Operations, account management and stakeholders on day-to-day issues.

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Manage and grow the Front End development group to facilitate timely development of multiple projects
 Introduce strong governance, methodologies, tools, process and procedure to mature the service delivery of the web development group.
 Build / maintain / drive service oriented culture.
 Maintain / enhance Service capability for web development
 Introduce team structures to facilitate BAU and project throughputs
 Introduce rigor around support coverage in / out of hrs
 Develop Team members to become strong individual contributors and team players closing gaps in technical / management capabilities.
 enabling validation of incoming project requests
 Maintain detailed resource forecasts and estimates and creates a strategy to ensure appropriate resources are available for business and technical debt roadmaps  Work in unison with programme managers and practice heads to ensure projects resource coordination
 Day to day communication with internal & external development teams, IT Operations, Product Owners and direct with stakeholders where applicable
 Provide assistance and recommendations to constantly improve internal processes methodologies / software architecture
 Work with 3rd party Service providers to ensure support for new web development platforms / products provided and smooth transition to in-house delivery is achieved
 Maintain and deliver to own budgets / provide budgetary inputs for each year
 Maintain holistic view of department needs and work with Development director and peer group to raise the maturity of all service provisions from and by Development Department
 Reports to the IT Development Director

MANDATORY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

 Proven project management / team management experience gained in a fast-paced development environment, covering the full development life cycle
 Strong stakeholder management experience across a variety of levels (both internal and external), with excellent communication skills
 Experience in 3rd-party service provision
 Excellent knowledge of working with Web / Front End environments, including but not limited to NodeJS, React and Php.
 Knowledge of Agile

DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 Relevant technical background in Web Technologies
 Experience using web based task management and resource allocation tools such as JIRA.
 Previous experience in working with offshore development teams
 Applicants must be willing to travel to and spend periods of time working in multiple global locations
