We are looking for an Intellectual Property/TM Lawyer to join our growing team in our Malta office
This is a role for an experienced industry lawyer who can hit the ground running on UKIPO and EUIPO matters.
Apply expert-level knowledge of trademark and copyright issues, opportunities and best practices for enforcement in online and physical channels.
Is responsible for all trademark and copyright-related activities for multiple business segments, including training, branding, risk assessment, prosecution, maintenance and enforcement, in a fast-paced environment.
Actively manages the company’s intellectual property worldwide, in collaboration with external counsel and internal stakeholders, including maintaining the company’s trademarks, conducting patent and trademark searches, and providing opinions regarding trademarks and patents. Gains a solid understanding of our intellectual property, products and businesses, goals and challenges, and identifies and successfully executes appropriate IP strategies, procedures to achieve those goals and minimise those challenges, as well as to protect, develop and maintain he worldwide intellectual property rights of the company.
Willing to work on the smallest and simplest, as well as the most complex, IP matters faced
Managing and assisting external counsel on trademark, copyright and related matters litigation, including oppositions before EUIPO.
Review and manage outside counsel work to ensure the work, methodology, strategy and costs meet expectations.
Trains members of the business in IP matters and best practices.
Identifies opportunities to enforce/monetise IP rights against infringers.
Manages competition monitoring/IP landscaping in key technology areas.
Drafts and negotiates IP-related agreements (e.g., licensing or collaboration agreements).
Coordinate with outside counsel to prepare and prosecute patent applications internationally. Pre-patent filing reviews
Commercial contract negotiation
Other duties as assigned.
IP/TM lawyer with a minimum of 4 years PQE experience
Technical interest and understanding
Patent experience is desirable, but most important is the aptitude and appetite to do such work
