The Head of IT Department is a key position in Organisation's strategy to build and manage a team of IT specialists. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of technology services through management of the IT specialists, the introduction of new ways of working, the development of new opportunities and the delivery of new services. This role requires a strong leader with experience of building teams and managing change and technology in a distributed and international environment.

Scope of duties:

• Oversee all technology operations (e.g., network, information, and privacy security) and evaluate them according to established goals and standards.
• Devise and establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management.
• Analyze the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs.
• Advise on the purchase efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software.
• Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure proper implementation, functionality and efficiency.
• Identify the need for distribution, upgrades, configurations or new software/hardware systems and report to upper management.
• Document, distribute and provide training on processes, controls for software deployment.
• Coordinate with internal and external IT personnel to supervise and provide guidance on various projects.
• Control budget and report on expenditure.
• Formulate and implement business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
• Coordinate IT activities to ensure the availability of network services and data.
• Identify future challenges in the IT landscape and developing mitigation strategies.
• Identify security vulnerabilities and eliminating them with strategic solutions.
• Identify and recommend new technology solutions to meet the changing business needs of the organisation.
• Drive the adoption of Agile & DevOps practices across the delivery teams
• Ensure appropriate resource planning in alignment with project delivery demands
• Assist in the control of concurrent projects and resources that may vary in scale and complexity to meet changing objectives
• Manage relationships at a senior level with the wider Organisation's IT team; as well as engaging and managing relationships with third party suppliers

Requirements and skills:

• Sound understanding of computer systems, networks, security, telecommunications, databases and storage systems.
• Knowledge of the Microsoft software ecosystem and available organisational tools.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
• Ability to manage and prioritize tasks and projects
• Solid working knowledge of all relevant and security protocols
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Team oriented

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, information systems, computer science or related field (graduate degree a plus)
• Minimum eight years’ experience working in IT operations
• Minimum three years’ experience overseeing IT teams and projects
• Certifications and continuing education preferred
