Reporting to the Software Development Manager, the Lead Developer (Backend) is responsible for leading a team as a people leader and as a hands-on technical contributor.

SCOPE OF THE JOB:

The Lead Core Developer is skilled at communication within the team and across the organization and able to collaborate closely with other managers and leaders to balance, synchronize and prioritize the work of people, to create business value, fulfilling user stories supplied by our Product Owners. The development teams are highly agile, self-organizing, self-sufficient, and excel at understanding how to solve business problems through clever implementations of code. The technology stack we use is based on Python and Flask.

YOUR CHALLENGE:

Provide technical leadership and guidance on development best practices;
Be a senior hands-on contributor and lead by example;
Mentor and coach members of the team;
Collaborate with the Software Development Manager and Group Head of Central Tech on technical and non-technical strategies;
Able to manage teams that are geographically distributed and to cooperate with outsourcing partners;
Understand business requirements and suggest solution designs;
Prioritize and manage workload;
Do code reviews;
Write technical and non-technical documentation;
Assist the team in deploying code to live environments.

Take ownership of recruitment and selection for your team by working closely with HRBPs and TA teams.
Enabling team and individual growth from the induction stage to ongoing learning and development.

TO DO IT, YOU WILL NEED:

A natural leader with proven experience in leading a team;
Must be a Python Guru;
Experience with GIT and Jenkins;
Experience with CI/CD;
Experience with Docker;
Experience with Microservices;
MongoDB database experience;
Well versed in Object-Oriented Design;
Experience in an Affiliation / Lead generation organization is a plus.
