Following the BettingJobs team returning home to Scotland after one of the busiest weeks of the year, we have taken the opportunity to reflect on the highlights of ICE 2023.
Kicking off ICE London 2023 week in style, BettingJobs CEO Jennifer Innes served as a judge at the Global Gaming Awards ceremony, which was held in the iconic Hippodrome casino in the heart of London’s city centre. We would like to congratulate all winners and nominees on their achievements within the iGaming industry!
Our previous article discussed the importance of exhibiting at ICE each year in order to network with potential and existing candidates and clients as well as gain insights into recruitment trends. Several key trends were identified at ICE 2023, which have been detailed below by our expert recruiters.
Not only did the event allow us to identify key recruitment trends within the iGaming industry, but it also gave us the opportunity to meet with our fantastic industry friends, clients, and candidates. At ICE, we always enjoy networking with candidates whom we have previously placed, hearing about the progress they have made in their careers, which is one of the most rewarding elements of our work. Furthermore, the infamous afterparties at ICE, which are held in some of the most prestigious venues in London are not to be missed.
We spoke with some BettingJobs team members who attended ICE to hear their experiences of the largest event on the iGaming calendar. Our newest team members Iona Harris and Morgan Neil share their experiences attending ICE for the first time:
“It was an incredible experience to witness ICE for the first time, and the sheer scale of the event was very impressive. From listening to my colleagues describe ICE, I was able to develop an image in my head of what the event would entail. However, witnessing this first hand was a completely unique experience, and with that, I had a fantastic time.
Meeting with clients and candidates in person was extremely rewarding. Having the opportunity to put a face to a name and explain what we do, as well as hear about what other organisations and individuals do was a great experience overall.” – Iona Harris, iGaming Recruitment Consultant
“I had a wonderful experience attending ICE London for the first time, and I can certainly see why there is so much hype surrounding this event. The first day of my stay in London was spent at the iconic Sunborn Yacht Hotel adjacent to the ExCEL centre, where I attended a Media Training Breakfast specifically designed for women in the iGaming industry. Organised by the superb teams at GameOn and Games Global, this event was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about leveraging marketing skills in order to achieve success. I would like to thank all involved for providing an insightful and educational experience.
Several of the stands I witnessed at ICE were out of this world, and I was overwhelmed by the amount of people in attendance at the conference (my feet were most definitely suffering by the end of the day). ICE provided me with a great opportunity to network, expand my marketing expertise, and learn more about the ever-changing online iGaming industry.” – Morgan Neil, Marketing & Social Media Co-Ordinator
Experienced recruiters Jonathan Revie and Dominic Mirzai speak about their recent experiences at ICE London and what they learned from the event below.
“As always, it was a pleasure to return to ICE London, and it was great to see the conference back to full capacity after the COVID-19 Pandemic. Moreover, it was encouraging to witness a strong LATAM presence and several companies discussing expansion into the region. Despite the current state of the financial markets, it is encouraging to see companies continue to hire actively. - Jonathan Revie, iGaming Recruitment Consultant
I met with and spoke to a number of individuals who are seeking to fill very niche positions within specific markets such as Asia and LATAM. As a result of attending the ICE once again this year, it has become clear that most people are aware of BettingJobs and what we do, which demonstrates our excellent reputation within the industry.” – Dominic Mirzai, Senior iGaming Recruitment Consultant
We can’t quite believe ICE London week has been and gone for another year. We knew exhibiting at ICE 2023 would be made even more special as we approach BettingJobs 20th anniversary later this year.
As our team returns home with branded lanyards in hand, tired legs from treading the floors of the ExCEL and some surplus ‘Tunnocks Teacakes’ (which didn’t quite survive the journey to London), we would like to take the time to thank all our wonderful clients, industry friends, partners, and candidates who visited our stand at ICE and spoke with us during the show! It was once again a wonderful experience, and we are already looking forward to next year's event.
